Sudye Dean Goolsby Hammons 

Sudye Dean Goolsby Hammons, 57, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away May 7, 2021. A Graveside Service will be Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Sunshine United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jason Dillard officiating.

Sudye is survived by her son, Aaron Hammons; father, Bennie Goolsby, Sr.; one grandson, Ryker Hammons; sister, Brenda Chapman; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Madelyn Goolsby; son, Warren Hammons; two brothers, Bennie F. Goolsby, Jr., and Michael Goolsby.

Sudye was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She attended East Side High School in Taylors, South Carolina and Greenville Technical College in Greenville, South Carolina. She was a faithful member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina.

Sudye was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Jim Davis, Jr.

Piedmont – James “Jim” Russell Davis, Jr., 83, husband of the late Shelby Jean Whitlock Davis, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021.

   Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James Russell Davis, Sr. and Essie Mae Bayne Davis. He retired from Michelin Tire and was a member of the Piedmont Fire Department.

   He is survived by son, Stephen A. “Tony” Davis of Piedmont; brother, Wayne Davis of Waterloo; and grandson, Terry Davis of Williamston.

   He was predeceased by brothers, Harold, Tommy, Marion and Charlie Davis; and grandson, Mitchell Davis.

   A graveside service was held.

Jennifer Dorsey

Anderson – Jennifer Lynn Vaughan Dorsey, 58, wife of James Harold “Jim” Dorsey, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of Joyce Lynn “Pete” Day Vaughan of Pelzer and the late James Ray Vaughan. She was a graduate of Winthrop University, owner of Draperies by Jenny, and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Jennifer was a loving wife, mother, and “Gigi”.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by sons, James “Ryan” Dorsey (Rachael) of Hernando, FL, and Austin B. Dorsey (Rachael) of Anderson; brothers, James Ricky Vaughan (Theda) of Greenville and Russell Patrick “Russ” Vaughan (Ginger) of Cumming, GA; and grandchildren, Denver G. and Aspyn R. Dorsey.

The funeral was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, at Gray Mortuary Chapel.  Burial followed at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, 108 New Hope Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.

   The family will be at the home of her mother.

Betty Doss

Anderson – Elizabeth Arden Fordham Aicholtz “Betty” Doss, 79, wife of David Oscar Doss, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021.

   Born in Alexandria, VA, she was a daughter of the late Alan Fordham and Helen Paporiski Fordham Bowles. After thirty-five years, she retired as Vice President of Bank of America.

Betty was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Williamston, where she volunteered with the church’s foodbank and served as secretary/treasurer. She was also a member of the Shriners Provost Guard and Ladies Auxiliary.

   In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Donna Marie Garris (Dennis) of Williamston, SC, Richard Ryan Aicholtz, of Anderson, SC, David Earl Doss (Sisa) of Stafford, VA, Deborah Elizabeth Bowers (David) of Stafford, VA, Ernest Wayne Doss of King George, VA, and Rachael Lynn Holt (Steve) of Fredericksburg, VA; sister, Allison Boothe (Ed) of Stafford, VA; brother, Edward Fordham (Helen) of Gold Vein, VA; and eight grandchildren.

   She was predeceased by a son, Fredrick James Aicholtz.

   Visitation will be held Sunday, May 23, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary.

   The service will be Monday, May 24, at 11:30 a.m. in the mortuary chapel, followed by burial at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

   Due to Covid-19, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing observed.

Virginia Greene

Frances Virginia Smith Greene of Williamston, 78, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 at her home.

   Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late James Herman and Frances Mae Martin Smith.  She retired from Wal-Mart in Easley.

Survivors include children, Tony Houston Harris of Williamston, Terry Wayne Thompson of Simpsonville, and Amanda McAbee of Easley; one granddaughter, Courtney Thompson.

The family received friends May 17 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service followed in the mortuary chapel.  Burial was at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Tony Edwin Vandiver

Belton – Tony Edwin Vandiver, 62, husband of Mary King Vandiver, resident of Eastland Drive, died Wednesday May 12, 2021 at his residence.

Born on December 13, 1958 in Greenville to the late Charles Edwin and Edna Lindley Vandiver, he served in the United States Navy as well as the Navy Reserves. He was retired from the Anderson City Police Department.

He was faithful member of Open Door Community Church.

Surviving other than his wife of the home, are his children, Tara Elizabeth Fields (Scott) of Pelzer, Shanna Vandiver of Anderson; his stepdaughter, Julie Hedden of Charleston; his grandchildren, Kylie Elizabeth Rogers, and Rachel Grace Fields; his step granddaughter, Beth Hedden; his sister, Jan Vandiver Rogers (Scott) of Easley.

Funeral services were conducted Monday May 17th at 2:00 PM from Open Door Community Church with Rev. Lloyd Robison officiating. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family is at the home and received friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of service at the church.

Greg Graham

 Gregory Keith “Greg” Graham, 42,  of Belton passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021.

Born in Greenville, MI, he was a son of Thomas Jay and Linda Lorraine Pratt Graham of Belton. He formerly worked for Mount Vernon Mills. 

In addition to his parents, he is survived by sons, Gregory Thomas “Greg” Graham of Belton and Jonathon Graham of Belton; daughter, Dallace Nicole Mae Graham of Anderson; brothers, Anthony Graham and Jeremiah Graham both of Belton; grandparents, Lorraine Pratt of Iva and Thomas and Helen Graham of Howard City, MI; and one granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, at Open Door Community Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the family to assist with final expenses. Any donations may be mailed to Greg’s mother, Linda Graham, 903 Cheddar Road, Belton, SC 29627.

Brenda Berry

 Brenda Claiborne Fitzgerald Berry of Williamston, 76, wife of James Roland Berry, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021.

   Born in Highpoint, NC, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clayborne and Dorothy Collins Fitzgerald.  She retired from Gerber Childrenswear and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, James Roland Berry, Jr. and Jeffrey Scott Fitzgerald; daughters, Cynthia Dawn Sears and Jamie Lynn Logan; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

   Visitation was May 17 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

  The service was held May 18 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Williamston.  The burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Summer Madden

Summer Carla Dawn Madden of Lancaster, PA, 31, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Phillip Linn Elting and Kimberly Anne Madden.

She is survived by a son, Kyle Hadden of Kirkwood, PA; step-mother, Sheila A. Elting of Shippensburg, PA, grandmother, Carole Loyd of AL; sister, Brianna Taylor Towner of Easley.

Visitation was held on May 17,  at Gray Mortuary. A cryptside service followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Patsy Campbell Thomas 

Belton – Patsy Campbell Thomas, 78, wife of Billy W Thomas Sr., resident of Standpipe Ct., died Saturday May 15, 2021 at her residence.

Born in Anderson County on August 15, 1942 to the late Walter T and Mittie Jean Bannister Campbell, she was a Weaver in Textiles retiring from Blair Mills. She loved her family and was a talented crafter.

She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church until health issues would no longer allow her and Billy to attend.

Surviving other than her husband of 64 years, of the home, are her children, Debra Bratcher of Belton, Angela Thomas of GA, Tammy Mantooth of Williamston, Christopher Thomas (Isabelle) of MN, and Angel Hanley (Chris) of FL; her grandchildren, Shane Beard,  Danny Bratcher Jr., Missy Rochester, Adrianna Celeste Johnson, David Adam Dill, James Keith Dill, William Nicholas Dill, Amber Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas, Alyssa Hanley and Jerry Hanley; her sisters, Mary Timms, and Mary Lowe. She was predeceased by a son, Billy Thomas Jr., and son in law, Danny Bratcher Sr., 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2:00 PM from Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Phillips and Rev. Tracey Clements officiating. Burial followed at the Garden of Memories.

The family is at the home and received friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Cox Funeral Home.
