Margaret Parker

Margaret Powell Parker of Piedmont, 77, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

 Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Arthur and Sarah Odell Moss Powell. She retired from Rich’s Department Store, was a member of Wren Baptist Church.

   She is survived by sister, Dorothy Shaw of Seneca.

A graveside service was held August 12 at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

Vera Robinson

Vera Lorene Simpson Robinson of Piedmont, 97, wife of the late Charles William “C.W.” Robinson, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Augustus Thompson Simpson and Ella Kate Simpson. She retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of Bessie Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Williams of Piedmont; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 18, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Bessie Road Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m., with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Wayne Cothran

Robert Wayne Cothran of Fountain Inn, 71, husband of Sandy Lowman Cothran, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022.

   Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Robert Henry and Dorothy Irene Kellett Cothran. He retired from the construction industry and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Kim Boyer of Palm Coast, FL; step-son, Chris Brady of Spartanburg; and sister, Denise Mehany of Pelzer.

No services are planned at this time.

Fred Davis

Piedmont – John Michael “Fred” Davis, 66, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Bobbie Steele Davis Lindley.

He retired from Cushman and was a Baptist.

Survivors include sister, Debra Ray Trotter Wludyka of the home; cousin, Annette Drake-Harbin (Mike) of Williamston; nephews, Joshua Hedden (Star) and Justin Hedden (Amber).

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, at West Pelzer Baptist Church.

DeAnna Nelson

Cristy DeAnna Coker Nelson of North Charleston, 49, wife of Carroll Ray Nelson, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of Billy Bruce Coker (Martha) and the late Susan Frances Bigham Coker. She was employed with the City of Summerville and a member of Washington Baptist Church. 

In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by daughter, Kayla Nelson and son, Noah Nelson, both of the home; sister, Renee McCrary of the home; and brother, Billy Brian Coker of Simpsonville.

   The family received friends August 15 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A graveside service followed at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson.

Rodney Ragsdale

Williamston – Frank Rodney “Red Dog” Ragsdale, 64, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022.

   Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late John Quincy Ragsdale Sr. and Bobbie Elizabeth Henderson Ragsdale. Owner and operator of Ragsdale Decks, he was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Rodney was also a member and past Master of the Williamston Masonic Lodge #24 and he was a Hejaz-Shriner.

   Survivors include son, Matthew James Waddell (Katie) of Williamston; sisters, Joan Elizabeth Ragsdale of Williamston, Melissa Mae Duffie (Tom) of Powdersville, Donna Elaine Graddick (Steve) of Greenville, and Cindy Ragsdale Thompson of Williamston; grandchild, Maxxwell John Quincy Waddell; girlfriend, Wendy Allen Burgess of Pelzer; nieces and nephews, Denna Ragsdale Crawford, Jeffrey Ragsdale (Lia), Jennifer Graddick Godfrey (Jake), Megan Graddick Carlton (Mills), Dillon Ryan Thompson, and Heather Nicole Thompson.

He was predeceased by brother, John Quincy “Johnny” Ragsdale, Jr; and niece, Lesley Ragsdale Childers.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 19, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 324 Belton Drive, Williamston, SC 29697.
