Isidro Ayala

Isidro Lopez Ayala of Marquette, MI, 33, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2023.

Born in Mexico, he was a son of Enrique Lopez Salcido and Celia Ayala De La Paz.

He is survived by children, Elainna Lopez Ayala, Ava Lopez, and Luna Lopez, all of Honea Path; brothers, Guadalupe Lopez, Jose Ivan Lopez, and Ramon Lopez; sisters, Areli Yaquelin Lopez, Claudia Margarita Lopez, Maria Julieta Lopez, Maria del Carmen Lopez, and Norma Lopez.

A graveside will be held Saturday, April 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Martha Ann Rice

Martha Ann Beatty Rice of Ware Shoals, 86, formerly of Pelzer and Williamston and wife of the late Robert Henry Rice, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late J.W. and Lula Mae Howard Beatty. She retired from the Kendall Company and was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A graveside service was April 4 at Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

William Davis

William “Bill” Dendy Davis of Pelzer, 94, husband of the late Edna Bagwell Davis, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at his home.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Adger and Lizzie Mae Turner Davis.  He retired from Industrial Burners and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.  He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Korean War. 

Survivors include son, Jackie Davis of Pelzer; daughter, Jean D. Mitchell of Piedmont; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 5, at 1:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, P.O. Box 268, Pelzer, SC 29669.

Jerry Stoner

Jerry Arthur Stoner of Belton, 74, husband of Connie Getsinger Stoner, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

Born in Belton, he was a son of the late Lawrence Reginald and Lillian Elizabeth McAlister Stoner. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and retired from Anderson County Building and Grounds. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Jody Stoner of Central; daughter, Katina Jennings of Belton; brother, James Stoner of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was April 2, at Shady Grove Baptist Church. The service followed in the church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Linda Graham

 Linda Lorraine Pratt Graham of Belton, 68, widow of Thomas Jay Graham, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at her home.

 Born in Grand Rapids, MI, she was a daughter of Lorraine Goldie Smith Pratt and the late Harry Duane Pratt.

 She retired from Subway in Williamston and was a member of Open Door Community Church.

 In addition to her mother of Iva, she is survived by sons, Anthony Graham and Jeremiah Graham both of Belton; sister, Susan Miller of Anderson; brothers, Keith Pratt of Belton and Brian Pratt of Slabtown; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

 A memorial service was held April 1 at Open Door Community Church.

Willie Lollis

Willie Sam Lollis of Belton, 81, husband of Sarah Dianne Chastain Lollis, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023.

   Born in Belton, he was a son of the late Sam Boe and Rachael Eugenia Kernells Lollis. He was formerly employed with Cargill in Hammond, IN and retired as owner and operator of Ray’s Movers. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

   In addition to his wife, he is survived by his adopted sons, Erick Smith of Highlands, IN and Jonathan DeWitt of Dyers, IN; brother, Oscar L. Lollis of Mt. Pocono, PA; and sister, Eva Epps of Cheddar.

He was predeceased by his children, Eran Stewart Lollis and Mary Elizabeth Lollis; and brother, Walter Lollis.

   A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 5, at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mary Louise McCuen Hudson 

Anderson- Mary Louise McCuen Hudson, 82, widow of the late John Thomas “Goat” Hudson, formerly of Pelzer, entered into rest Thursday March 30, 2023, at Condor Health.

Born on August 10, 1940, in Pelzer to the late Ramsey and Annie Bell Davis McCuen, she was a weaver and retired from Cushman Mill.

She attended Bessie Road Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children, Pam Craine and husband Ricky, Tony Hudson and wife Peggy, Todd Hudson and wife Lisa, Kristie Hicks, and husband Bruce; her sister, Sherron Brooks; 16 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Mark Hudson, her daughters, Angie Lollis and Tammy McClain, her granddaughter, Jillian Craine, 8 sisters and one brother.

She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2:00 PM from Bessie Road Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Griswold officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family received friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 P.M at Cox Funeral Home.

The family is at the home of Todd and Lisa Hudson. 

Flowers are accepted and memorials may be made to Bessie Road Baptist Church, P.O. Box 361, Piedmont, SC 29673.

Nannie “Nan” Lou Mitchell Jones of Piedmont, 103, wife of the late Wilton Edward Jones, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Furman Dewey and Martha Idella Williams Mitchell.

She is survived by daughter, Nancy Brown of Piedmont; two grandchildren, and one  great-grandchild.

A graveside service was held April 5, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Doris Culbertson

Doris Ann Moore Culbertson of Williamston, 92, wife of the late Paul Allen Culbertson, Sr., passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Born in Martin, GA, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas and Joey Mae Segars Moore.  She retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a member of Dry Oak Assembly of God. She recently had been attending Ware Place Church of God.

She is survived by daughters, Dianne Ownbey  of Belton, and Kathy Morton of Piedmont; sons, Rev. Paul Allen Culbertson, Jr. of Woodruff and Jerry Wayne Culbertson, Sr. of Williamston; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Visitation was held April 3 at Gray Mortuary.

   The funeral service was April 4 at Ware Place Church of God, 2027 Highway 418, Pelzer.  Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Robert Steven “Steve” Chapman of Lowndesville, 59, husband of Sharon Ann Gambrell Chapman, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of Lalen Douglas Chapman and the late Ethel Frances Simmons Chapman.  He retired from J. P.  Stevens, and was a member of House of Praise in Iva.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his children, Stephanie Ann Chapman of Honea Path, Samantha Chadwick of Iva, and James Robert Chapman of Honea Path; brothers, William Chapman and Johnny Chapman of Westminster; sister, Robbie Smith of West Pelzer; and four grandchildren,.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 10, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary with the funeral service following at 2:00.  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
