Lib Keys, Marvin T. Coker, Sr., Carol Davis

Carol Davis 

Carol Burnett Plowden Davis of Belton, 78, wife of Howard Lee Davis, Sr., passed away Friday, November 3, 2023. 

Born in Barrineau, she was a daughter of the late Burnett O’Brian and Nobia Ina Coker Plowden. She retired from Campbell’s Soup Company and was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  

 In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Timmy and L.C. Welch of Florence; step-children, Margie Bradley of Sumter, Michael Davis of Belton, Howard Davis, Jr. and Angel Davis of Sumter; sisters, Donna McClain of Kingstree and Judy Matthews of Florence; brothers, Billy Plowden of Columbia, Curtis Plowden of Lake City, and David Plowden of Barrineau; four grandchildren; nine-step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 12, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Gray Mortuary, with visitation to follow.

Marvin T. Coker, Sr. 

Marvin Thurman Coker, Sr., 85, husband of Linda Lee Cothran Coker,  of Pelzer, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023. 

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late William Thomas and Mallie Louise King Coker.  He retired from 3M and was a member of Washington Baptist Church. 

   In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Marvin Thurman Coker, Jr. of Greenville; daughter, Sharon Coker Klaren  of West Union; five  grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held November 2 at Washington Baptist Church with burial following at Greenville Memorial Gardens. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or to Let There Be Mom, 1200 Woodruff Road, Suite H13, Greenville, SC 29607.

Lib Keys 

Elizabeth “Lib” Alice Lee Higgins Keys of Williamston, 83, wife of Jerry Ernest Keys, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023. 

She was twice married, first to the late Calvin Dorsey Higgins, Sr. 

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late John Ballentine Lee, Sr. and Ruby Welborn Lee. She retired from BASF, was an active member of Whitefield Baptist Church.  

 In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Calvin Dorsey Higgins, Jr. of Kingston, GA; step-daughter, Sherry Keys of Williamston; sisters, Janie Brown of Easley and Lorene Rhodes of Williamston; six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. 

The family received friends November 6 at Whitefield Baptist Church. The funeral followed at 2:00 p.m. with burial in the church cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Good News Club, c/o Whitefield Baptist Church or to Whitefield Baptist Church, 207 Mitchell Road, Belton, SC 29627.  

The family will be at her home.
