DIANNE COUCH WEATHERS

On Monday, November 27, 2023, Dianne Couch Weathers went home to meet her Savior at the age of seventy-eight. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing after a battle with dementia.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Flay Weathers III, daughter Leslie Weathers of Inman and fiancée Kevin Vassey of Gaffney, SC, her son James Flay Weathers IV and his wife Esther Culp Weathers of Lexington, SC., Daughter Lynne Weathers Sunday and husband Tommy Sunday of Bluffton, SC and daughter Brett Weathers Freed and husband Kyle Freed of Lexington, SC. Also, her brother Robert Couch of Pelzer, SC. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earleen and Walter Couch of Williamston, SC. Dianne’s pride and joy were her seven grandchildren: Andrew Poole, James Flay Weathers V, Jamie Nicole Bamond, Reid Weathers, Wyatt Sunday, Kaleah and Briella Freed.

Dianne was a 1963 graduate of Palmetto High School in Williamston, SC. She then attended Mars Hill College graduating with a double major in English and French, and where she met her husband, Jim. Dianne taught French classes at Chase High School before becoming a stay-at-home mother to her children for the next ten years. Dianne helped start the Forest City Lioness Club and then worked as both the Secretary and President of the Lioness Club. She was also a member of the Pilot Club of Rutherford County and two community bridge clubs. Dianne taught a married couples Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Forest City. She and Jim were Presidents of the Alumni Association at Mars Hill College. Dianne used her talents for creative decorating during her 45 years of service and ownership at the family business, Farmers Hardware Company on Main Street in Forest City.

A service from the graveside was at 1 o’clock on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in the Cool Springs Cemetery with the Reverend Daniel Selman officiating.  A visitation was held from 5pm until 7pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at The Padgett & King Mortuary.
