Rob Moody

Williamston – Robert “Rob” Carroll Moody, 82, husband of Claudia Linda Whitaker Moody, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023.

   Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late David Alonzo and Mary Josephine Crymes Moody. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Lucent Technologies.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by sons, James “Jae” Moody (Robin) of Williamston and Eric “Pick” Moody (Jeannie) of Little Mountain; and grandchildren, Noah and Sam Moody.

   He was predeceased by brothers, Jim and LaFoy Moody; and sister, Faye Bagwell.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Friday, December 15, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service will follow at 11:00 am in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Angela Chapman

Angela “Angie” Dee Chandler Chapman of Belton, 67, wife of William Darrell Chapman, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023.

   Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Giles Dee and Sadie Lee Smith Chandler.  She was employed with Clinkscales Drugs in Belton. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Travis Chapman of Anderson and Brandon Chapman of Ozark, AL; four grandchildren; and sisters, Linda L. Tillotson of Powdersville and Aileen C. Martin of Belton.

The family received friends December 11 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service followed in the mortuary chapel.  Burial was at Garden of Memories in Belton.

Sammy Sanders 

Simon Peter “Sammy” Sanders of Williamston, 62, husband of Mary Kathryn Thompson “Kathy” Sanders, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023. 

Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late William Kenneth Sanders and Betty Elizabeth Westbrook Sanders Kidd. He was employed with Patriot Concrete Cutting and was a member of Piedmont Church of God.  

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Simon Nathaniel Sanders of Williamston and Eric Lee Sanders of Pelzer; sisters, Margaret Lippart of PA and Maybell Campbell of Williamston; brothers, Kent Sanders of Simpsonville and David Sanders of Pelzer; and four grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 14, from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Eleanor Babb

Nora Eleanor Harrison Babb of Piedmont, 81, wife of Raymond Francis Babb, Sr., passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Paul Denzil and Nora Mae Welborn Harrison. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Pelzer.

In addition to her husband of 66 years, she is survived by daughters, Lisa Adkins of the home and Debra Williams of Pelzer; nine grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

 Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Friday, December 15, at Tabernacle Baptist Church. The service will follow at 2:00 pm in the church. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

William Michael “Mike” Revels

William Michael “Mike Revels, 65, passed away December 4, 2023 at his home in Irmo, S.C.

He is survived by his wife Eulet Baldeo Revels, stepdaughter, Marissa Baldeo-Indar of the home, daughter, Alana Revels of Clemson,  mother Elease Black Revels, and brother Kevin Revels of Williamston.  

He was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Revels of Williamston.

Mike was a 1978 graduate of Palmetto High School. He then attended Clemson University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Administration Management in 1982 and Computer
Science in 1986. He was a member of the Air Force ROTC and the Arnold Air Society while at Clemson.

Funeral service and celebration of his life was held December 9th at The Harvest Church in Lexington, SC with burial December 10th in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Anderson, SC. 

William D. Tesnear, Sr.

William Douglas Tesnear, Sr., of Piedmont, 62, husband of Dorothy Lynn Kennedy Tesnear, passed away Sunday,  December 10, 2023 at his home.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Robert William and Sara Nell Lewis Tesnear. He was a retired self-employed Barber at William’s Barber Shop in Greenville and attended Williamston Church of God. 

   In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, William Douglas Tesnear, Jr. of the home; daughter, Emily Alexandra Tesnear of the home; brother, Robert Donald Tesnear of Williamston; sister, Rebecca Lynn Tesnear Bearden of Pelzer; and one grandson of the home. 

Visitation was held December 12 at Lifespring Church of God, 405 Piedmont Rd, Easley. A memorial service followed.

Willie Brown 

Willie Pearl Brown, 80, 0f Laurens, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023. 

   Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late James Newton and Pearl Hammond Brown. She was a member of Davis Street Baptist Church in Clinton and former member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Easley.  

Survivors include sister, Kathy Sue Bagwell of Honea Path and brother, Ronnie Brown of Easley. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, at Gray Mortuary, with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. A private burial will be held at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery.

Larry Williams

Larry Gene Williams, age 75, of Greenville, SC, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, at his home. 

Born June 19, 1948, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Carl S. Williams and Sara L. Murphy Williams. 

Larry was a graduate of Palmetto High School Class of 1966 and was a Master Barber. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines for 6 years with the rank of Sergeant earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He also served in the Army National Guard for 15 years and retired with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a 40-year member of the American Legion Post 121 in Williamston, a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Hejaz Shriners for 35 years. He was also a member of Whitefield Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Katherine Lee Williams; daughters, Angela Lee Branyon and Donna Lee Phillips (Rob); brother, Jimmy “Woody” Williams (Pat); grandchildren, Joey Glen Lee (Lori), Christina Katherine Fields (Casey), and Jacob Donald Prue Branyon (Somer); and great grandchildren, Ryan “Drake” Lee, Madison Glyn Lee, Indiana Homer Thomas Fields, Jacob Donald “Prue” Branyon, Jr., and Paisley Katherine Branyon. 

The family will receive friends Friday, December 15, 2023, from 2:30-3:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:30 pm in the Chapel with Beverly T. Jacobs and Indiana Fields officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital, 950 W Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605.

Georgia Waters 

Williamston – Georgia Anne Davis “Mema” Waters, 88, wife of the late Calvin Rodney Waters, Sr., passed away Monday, December 11, 2023. 

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late James Royd “Beany” and Agnes Caldwell Davis. A graduate of Pelzer High School, she served as church secretary for Williamston First Baptist Church. She was active in Eastern Star and spent many hours preparing meals for the children and members of her church. She was dedicated to the spiritual wellness of her family and her church members. She touched and loved hundreds of people and they all knew her as “Mema”. 

She is survived by a son, Calvin R. Waters, Jr. (Nancy) of Easley; daughter, Susan Waters McAbee (Joe) of Piedmont and Beth Waters Watkins of Williamston; and grandchildren, Calvin R. Waters, III, K.C. Watkins, Chuck Waters, James Watkins, Charlie Watkins, and Bailee McAbee. 

 She was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice “Beachie” Davis Collins and brother, William Haywood Davis.  

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 16, from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the mortuary chapel, with entombment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Williamston First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 477, Williamston, SC 29697. 

The family will be at the home of daughter, Beth Watkins.
