Betty Ford

Betty Mae Young Ford of Belton, 85, widow of Billy Adcus Ford, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late James Ernest and Alice Rogers Young.  She retired from All About Fabrics and was a member of Williamston Presbyterian Church.

   Survivors include son, Steve Ford of Belton; sister, Louise Bannister of Doraville, GA; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held December 26, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jackie Gilliland

Jacqueline “Jackie” Goss Gilliland of Greer, 76, wife of the late Ricky Lee Gilliland, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023.

   Born in Seneca, she was a daughter of the late Henry Otto and Jonell Worley Goss.  She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

   She is survived by sister, Donnie G. Hambright of Taylors; brothers, Robert Goss of Salem and Douglas Goss of Pickens.

A graveside service was held December 26 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Kerry Pack

Easley – Kerry Manning Pack, 66, husband of Lisa Carol Simmons Pack, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late John T and Helen West Pack. Kerry was a co-owner and stylist at Mane Tamers salon in Powdersville and owner and interior decorator for Mannings Design. He was a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Graysen Manning Pack and daughter-in-law, Jamie Elizabeth Poag Pack, of Asheville; daughter, Karsen Pack Hood and son-in-law, William Bailey Hood, of Charlotte and grandchildren, Davis Manning Hood and Lillian Elizabeth Hood; brother, John R. Pack and sister, Revonda Lippert, both of Pelzer.

He was predeceased by his sister, Lynn Pack Skelton.

Visitation was held Friday, December 29, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, in Pelzer. The funeral followed at 4:00 p.m., with burial in the church cemetery.

Steve King

Ronald Steve King of Belton, 69, husband of Brenda Diane King, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Truman Leo and Catherine Louise Brady King. He was formerly employed with BKI.

Survivors include his daughters, Deana Dare and Kasey King, both of Williamston; brother, Michael Earl “Mike” King of Belton; five grandsons; and two granddaughters.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Leonard Caldwell

Leonard Charles Caldwell of Piedmont, 86, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023.

Born in Marshall, NC, he was a son of the late McKinley and Leila Griffin Caldwell. He retired from John D. Hollingsworth on Wheels and attended Agape Baptist Church in Piedmont.

Survivors include his companion, Grace Trusty Jester of the home; brother, Lewis Caldwell of Leicester, NC; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation was held December 29 at Gray Mortuary, with the funeral following  in the mortuary chapel.

   Burial will be Wednesday, January 3, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Kathryn Dansby

Kathryn Dawn Pierce Dansby of Easley, 73, wife of J.B. Dansby passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023.

   Born in Johnson City, NY, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Loomis Pierce and Dawn Marie Andrews Pierce.  She was a l teacher prior to serving as Assistant Headmaster.  As a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Easley.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Kimberly Vann of Anchorage, AK and Kristen Day of Ocoee, FL; sisters, Donna Jones of Easley and Gail Gillespie of Montgomery, NY; brother, Daniel Pierce of Conklin, NY; and five grandchildren.

Visitation was held December 30 at Gray Mortuary.  A memorial service followed in the mortuary chapel.

Rachel Shaluly

Rachel Raina Parker Shaluly of Piedmont, 75, widow of Joseph Richard Shaluly, Sr. passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at her home.

Born in Cleveland County, NC, she was the daughter of Naomi Dorothy Short Parker of Casar, NC and the late Glenn McKinley Parker.  She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Greenville.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by daughter, Sabrina Crystal Gray of Pelzer; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Kevin McKinley Parker and Terry DeWayne Parker, all of Casar, NC.

The family received friends Thursday, December 28, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following in the mortuary chapel.

   Burial was at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

Faye Hood

Frances Faye Hightower Boozer Hood of Piedmont, 84, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023.

   Born in Calhoun County, AL, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Lane and Sara Frances Riddlehoover Hightowera retired from MTC Federal Credit Union. A member of River Road Baptist Church, she was on the Board of Directors and was a volunteer for many years at the Piedmont Emergency Relief Center.

   Survivors include her children, Barbara Boozer of Piedmont, Ralph K. Hood of Murphy, NC, and Ketia Sutton of Goldsboro, NC; sister, Glenda Griffin of Anniston, AL; brother, Langdon Hightower of Lincoln, AL; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation was December 30 at Gray Mortuary, with the funeral following in the mortuary chapel.

   Burial was held January 2 at Vinson Cemetery in Ohatchee, AL.

Helen Chandler

Helen Lucille Crone Chandler of Pelzer, 89, wife of Robert “Bobby” Fred Chandler, passed away peacefully Friday, December 22, 2023.

Born in Anderson County on September 21, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Loddrick Perry and Cora Bell Anderson Crone. She retired from the Kendall Company and a member of Washington Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Debra Todd of Pelzer; sons, Robert Gregg Chandler of Mauldin, Ricky Dean Chandler of Pelzer, and Ryan Shaun Chandler of the home; brother, Raymond L. Crone of Williamston; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was December 27, at Washington Baptist Church. The service followed with burial in the church cemetery.
