Gerald Monroe

Marvin Gerald Monroe of Piedmont, 75, husband of the late Blonnie Machell “Mickie” Clary Monroe, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024.

   Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Marvin Franklin and Julie Belle McCall Monroe. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. A former brick mason, he retired from The Print Machine.

   He is survived by his sisters, Janice Childress of Williamston and Donna Haynie of Piedmont.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 14, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, with the funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens, with military honors.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Greenville, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605, or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

Nancy Brown

Nancy Ann Alewine Brown of Belton, 64, wife of Fred Stephen Brown, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024.

   Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Wilford Eugene and Daisy Alene Brock Alewine. She was formerly employed with Cushman Mill.    In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Cathy Paris of Belton.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, March 12, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

Joe Campbell

Pelzer – Joseph Melvin “Joe” Campbell, 89, husband of Sylvia Jacquelyn “Jackie” Page Campbell, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

   Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late William Arthur Campbell, Sr. and Mary Emma King Campbell. After 50 and a half years, Mr. Campbell retired from Cushman Mill. He was a member of Washington Baptist Church and the J.W. Bagwell Sunday School Class. He also taught the Twelve-year-old Boys Sunday School Class and helped with Upward Basketball.

 In addition to his wife of 70 years, he is survived by his son, Joseph Furman Campbell (Lynda) of Pelzer; sister, Johnnie Lowry of Williamston; grandchildren, Michael Campbell (Tracie) of Williamston, Noah Campbell (Madison) of Belton, Kate Elliott (Michael) of Taylors, Jackie Biggs (Jason) of Belton, and Bethany Spencer of Cullowee, NC; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 

   He was predeceased by a son, Delmas Campbell; granddaughter, Nakatia Fletcher; brothers, William Arthur Campbell, Jr., Falconer Marion Campbell, and Paul E. Campbell; and sisters, Beaufort Bridges, Katherine Hart, Nancy Freeman, Mary Ellen Guest, Bessie Ruth Holliday, Barbara Campbell, and Nell Campbell.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 12, from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Washington Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Sherron Brooks

Sherron Elaine McCuen Brooks of Pelzer, 79, wife of the late David Lee Brooks, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Ramsey and Annie Bell Davis McCuen. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a homemaker. 

Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Babb of Pelzer; two granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary.

The funeral will be Friday, March 15, at 11:00 a.m. in the mortuary chapel, with the burial to follow at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

Phillip Lynn “Phil” White, 67,of Piedmont, husband of Brenda Jane Jackson White, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

   Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Jewel Maurice White, Sr. and Betty Jean Foster White. He retired from Magna Automotive.

   In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Buddy White of Piedmont and brother, Jewel M. “Reece” White, Jr. of Houston, GA.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 15, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Grove Station Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m., with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
