FLORENE HAYES, MONICA DEJONG VALIPOUR, CURTIS MASTERS, LOIS O. FUGATE, TINA MARIE MARSHALL, CAL SPRINGFIELD

FLORENE HAYES

Florene Anthony Hayes, 93, of Anderson, widow of  the late Rev. Eldon Leroy Hayes, died Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Anthony and the late Carey Hayes Anthony.

She retired from Iva Manufacturing.

She was member of First Baptist Church in Anderson.

Surviving are her children, Charles Hayes of Iva, Rev. Jerry Hayes of Anderson, Joan Ellison of Williamston; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Anthony of Portland, OR; and sister, Lizzie Mae Simmons of Pickens.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 17 at Union Baptist Church. Entombment followed at Foreset Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

MONICA DEJONG VALIPOUR

Monica Sylvia DeJong Valipour, 68, widow of Vali Valipour, died Sunday, November 9, 2014.

Born in the Netherlands she was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Powdersville.

Surviving are a son, Adam Valipour; birthmother, Elfie Holbrook of California; parents, John and Jacoba DeJong; brothers, Harry and Johan DeJong; sisters, Catherine DeJong Gentry and Charlene DeJong; and stepsons, Saeed and Siamak Valipour.

A memorial service was held Monday, Nov. 17 at Providence Presbyterian Church.

CURTIS MASTERS

Littleton, Colorado – Curtis Lee Masters, 81, widower of Jo Ellen Murphy Masters, died Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the home of his daughter in Pine, Colorado.

Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Robert Leo and Luna R. Hammond Masters. He was an accountant at both Davis and Harrison Electrical Contractors, retiring from Greenville Radiology Associates. He was a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, Pelzer.

Survivors are son, Timothy Michael Masters of Parker, Colorado; daughter, Joy LaJuan Busby of Pine, Colorado; sister Colleen Shaw of Pelzer; grandchildren, Katharine Masters Byrd, Benjamin Masters, Justin Herd, Alexandra Herd, Kaila Busby, and Tabitha Busby, as well as great-grandchildren, Emmalie Herd and Alicia Byrd.

Visitation will be 9:30 – 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 24, at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.

The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

LOIS O. FUGATE

Lois O. Fugate, 81, widow of Bobby Joe Fugate, died Sunday, November 16, 2014.

Born in Kyle, TX, she was the daughter of the late Fred Lloyd and Ladania Jackson Brown.

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Welborn of Greenville and Karen Lewis of Piedmont; two sons, Bobby Lee Fugate of Florence and Douglas Joe Fugate of Pelzer; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Brown of Allen, OK.

Graveside service was held Wednesday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

TINA MARIE MARSHALL

Tina Marie Koelzer Marshall, 49, wife of Allen David Marshall, Sr., of Donalds, died Saturday, November 15, 2014 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.

Born in Cooke County, TX, she was the daughter of Norman Koelzer and the late Helen Dianne Shumaker Peek. She was of the Catholic faith and worked at Devore Hardware.

Survivng are her husband of the home; father of Muenster, TX; three sons, Allen Marshall, Jr. and Ricky Marshall, both of Donalds, Jesse Miller of Woodruff; daughter, Renee Anderson of Williamston; two brothers, Stephen Koelzer of Gainesville, TX, and Keith Koelzer of Muenster, TX; three grandchildren; and grandmother, Angie Lutkenhaus of Muenster, TX.

Graveside services were held Wednesday at Eastview Cemetery.

CAL SPRINGFIELD

PELZER – Calvin David Springfield, 75, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2014.

Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary Cooper Springfield. He graduated from Parker High School and served in the Army. He retired from Michelin after 23 years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Page Springfield; son, Zane Springfield of Florida; daughter, Laura McAlister of Pelzer; grandchildren, C.J. McAlister of Piedmont, Ashley McAlister Kaspar and Kate McAlister, both of Greenville; great-grandchildren, Lilith, Bradley, and Tegan McAlister, and Gabriel and Devlin Kaspar; sisters, Carolyn Leopard and Lucy Chafin; and nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23 at Bethesda United Methodist Church. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
