MARY ANN ‘MACY’ FOWLER

PIEDMONT – Mary Ann “Macy” Davis Fowler, 74, wife of Fred B. Fowler, Jr., passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at her home.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late William E. and Sybil Boiter Davis.  She was retired from Delta Woodside and a Baptist.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Freddie Fowler (Dawn) of Taylors, Tommy Fowler of Piedmont, and Jeff Fowler (Wendy) of Pelzer; sisters, Joan Bennett (Troy) of Piedmont and Barbara Ann Cabaniss (Ricky) of Belton; brother, William Earl Davis (Kathy) of Pelzer; grandchildren, Felisha, Jeremy, Bradlee, and Grayson Fowler; great-grandchild, Evan Fowler.

A graveside service was held Monday, July 23, at 3:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Piedmont with visitation following the service.

SYBIL ELLER

PIEDMONT – Sybil Lavonia Brookie Eller, 83, widow of Jack C. Eller, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 at her home.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late John Charles and Ruth Marie Hooper Brookie.  She was a member of Wren Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Denise Price (Randall) of Piedmont; sisters, Carolyn Everett of Shelby, NC and Charlene Rogers of Pendleton; brother, Welborn Brookie of Shelby, NC; grandsons, Brandon Eller, Cameron Eller, Nick Price and Josh Price; great-grandchildren, Jasper Eller, Victoria Langlo, Gabrielle Langlo, and Brayden Langlo.

She was predeceased by sons, Jackie and Maurice Eller; daughter, Rose Marie Eller; and sister, Evelyn Sullivan.

Visitation was held from 10 – 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the service following at 11 a.m. in the mortuary chapel.  Burial was at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

BETTY FOUNTAIN ESCOE

Betty Fountain Escoe, of Pickens, widow of Gerald C. “Buddy” Escoe, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

She was born in Pelzer to the late Howard T. and Christine Turner Fountain.

She retired from Bank of America as a teller and was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Morgan of Powdersville and Jan Childs of Pickens; one son, G. Michael Escoe of Atlanta; and a brother, Jack Fountain of Pelzer; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Saturday, July 21 at Belton City Cemetery.

RALPH HAMMONDS

Ralph Hammonds, 81, of Pelzer, husband of Brenda M. Hammonds, died Saturday, July 21, 2018 at his home.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Jimmy James and Mallie Lollis Hammonds. He was retired from the Bibb Company, and a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church.

He was twice married, first to the late Earline Pearson Hammonds.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Julie Marie Hammonds of Greenville and Joy Childs of Pelzer; son, Daniel Epps of Townville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Funeral service was held Monday, July 23, in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary.  Burial followed at Sandy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

JANE GOLDEN

PELZER – Iler Jane Watson Golden, 71, wife of Jack F. Golden, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018.

Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Christopher Marion Watson and Mattie Elise Kelly Watson Waters.  She was retired from the Gerber Childrenswear, a member of Eastview Baptist Church and a member of the Pelzer Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Vicki Golden Harris (Dale) of Piedmont; grandchildren, Cody and Dean Harris.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberly Lee Golden and a brother, Wayne Watson.

Visitation was held from 2 – 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the service following at 3 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.  Burial followed at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Pelzer.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.

ANNE LONG

Beulah Anne Browning Long, 84, of Williamston, died on Sunday, July 22, 2018.

She was born on September 25, 1933 in Williamston. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Clemson.

She is survived by her daughters, Amy Long Chappell, and Cindy Long Ritchie; a brother, Wade Browning; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin, and her parents.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

DEWEY WEAVER LAWS, JR.

Dewey Weaver Laws, Jr., 67, of Piedmont, died Friday, July 20, 2018.

He was born in Greenville to Emily and Dewey Weaver Laws, Sr.

He was predeceased by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Jennifer McJunkin; son, Andrew Laws; two grandchildren; and brother, Henry Laws.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, July 24 at Graceland East Memorial Park in Simpsonville.

BILLY DOWNING

William E. “Billy” Downing, 72, of Pelzer, husband of Beth Marie Brusso Downing, died  Saturday, July 21, 2018.

Born in Exeter, NH, he was a son of the late Archie Vial and Evelyn Lovel Jones Downing. He was formerly employed with Gemini Valve.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Archie Jared Downing of the home; brothers, Stuart and Joseph Downing, both of Raymond NH; sisters, Vivian McGaul of Raymond, NH, Lorraine Bellmore of Derry, NH, Claire McIntosh of Raymond, NH, Gail Parenteau of Epping, NH and Paula Landry of Salem, NH.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, July 28, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service will follow at 3:00 pm in the mortuary chapel.
