Leroy Ferguson, Gary Ausburn, Hubert Pearce, Mary Mitchell

Mary Mitchell

Mary Elizabeth Rainey Mitchell of Williamston, 81, wife of the late Marshall Edward Mitchell, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Vernon Lewis Rainey and Louise Davis McGraw.   She retired from Anderson Hospital as a CNA.

She is survived sons, Vernon Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, both of Williamston, and Rickey Mitchell of Centerville; daughter, Crystal Whitman of Pendleton; son-in-law, John Barnett of Piedmont, three sisters; ten grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held April 17 at Gray Mortuary.

The funeral service was in the mortuary chapel, with burial following at Garden of Memories in Belton.

Hubert Pearce

Hubert Earl “Hubie” Pearce of Pelzer, 91, husband of Erahlene Thomas Pearce, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023.

Born in Dothan, AL, he was a son of the late Cody and Ruby Pearce. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from AT&T. A Volunteer Firefighter with South Greenville Fire Department, he was a member of the Williamston Masonic Lodge and Washington Baptist Church.

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Pamela P. King and Regina P. Hensley, both of Pelzer; two grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

A graveside service was held April 19 at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family greeted friends following the service.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – Upstate SC Chapter, 123 West Antrim Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.

Gary Ausburn

Gary Anthony Ausburn of Williamston, 66, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, at his home.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of Helen Irene Fowler Ausburn and the late Joe Richard Ausburn.  He was employed with South Eastern Machining, Inc.

In addition to his mother of Williamston, he is survived by daughter, Stacey Michelle Phillips of Craytonville; brothers, Larry Joe Ausburn of Williamston and David Vernon Ausburn of Belton; two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with burial to follow.

Leroy Ferguson

Thomas Leroy Ferguso, Jr., 70, of McCormick, husband of Judy Ann Camp Ferguson, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023.

 Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Thomas Leroy Ferguson, Sr., and Valeria Nylena Strom Ferguson. He served in the SC State Guard and was a member of McCormick First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of the home.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 20, from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Overbrook Cemetery, with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McCormick County EMS, 610 South Mine Street, McCormick, SC 29835.
