Santa Claus will be riding the local rails again as Greenville & Western Railway hosts its Seventeenth Annual “Santa Express” on December 9.
There area four stops scheduled. At each stop, boys and girls can step on board Santa’s caboose and tell Old Saint Nick what they want for Christmas. Each will receive a sweet treat. Santa will draw tickets at every stop for special gifts from his gift bag before the train departs.
The Santa Express schedule will be:
Honea Path – No stop at Hamby Road this year due to coal train in storage south of Belton
Belton – O’Neal Street – Arrive 9 am – Depart 11:15 am
Cheddar – Cheddar Road – Arrive 12:45 pm – Depart 2:15 pm
Williamston – Williams Street – Arrive 2:45 pm – Depart 4:15 pm
Pelzer – Lyman Street – Arrive 4:45 pm Depart 7:15 pm *
* Santa plans to stay until the last person has a chance to come through the caboose in Pelzer.
Help those in the community who are in need
Greenville & Western is partnering with the Belton Interfaith Ministerial Association (“BIMA”) and the Faith Food Bank of Williamston to collect food for those in our community who may find themselves in a time of real need. Greenville & Western encourages those who attend this year’s event to bring a donation of one or more non-perishable food items to the train.
Greenville & Western, BIMA and Faith volunteers will be staffing the Aiken Railway caboose (the caboose directly behind the locomotives) to accept your donations and thank you in advance for your generous support of both organizations’ food ministry.
Donations are not mandatory for participation in the event.
