Michael “Wayne” Eskew, Betty Lawter, Barbara Gilreath

Barbara Gilreath

Barbara Ellen Driver Gilreath of Piedmont, 79, widow of Charles Ray Gilreath, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at her home.

   Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late John Clifford and Grace Vandora Bishop Driver. She retired from Wal-Mart.

Survivors include children, Sherry Myers of Greenville, Kaye Strickland of Piedmont, Lynne Dennis of Piedmont, Toni Mischler of Easley, and Randy Gilreath of Easley; brothers, George Driver of Greenville and Kenneth “Kent” Driver of Iva; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family received friends March 5 at Tabernacle of Faith with the funeral service following at the church.

   Entombment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Anderson.

Betty Lawter

Betty Ruth Webb Lawter of Easley, 83, widow of Arthur Paul Lawter, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late James Belton and Sarah Eunice Tollison Webb. She was a member of Restoration Church in Spartanburg and attended Beech Springs Church and Set Free Christian Fellowship. She worked in patient care for many years. 

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Blackstock Alexander of Fountain Inn and Cheryl Blackstock Finley of Taylors; son, David Blackstock of Easley; step-daughters, Mary Lawter Gramling of Boiling Springs and Renee Lawter Wallace of Greer; daughter-in-law, Teresa Blackstock of Powdersville; sister, Maxine Cartee of Alabama; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

The family received friends March 2 at Beech Springs Church, with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial was at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Michael “Wayne” Eskew 

Pelzer- Michael “Wayne” Eskew, 60, husband of Melinda “Mindy” Kelsey Eskew, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024.

He was a true and loyal Gamecock Football fan, through thick and thin.

He was the son of the late Bobby Jo Eskew and the late Della Mae Smith Eskew. 

He was preceded in death by siblings Barbara Ann Eskew, Terry Jo Eskew, and David Timothy Eskew.

A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church in Pelzer on Friday, March 1, 2024. Arrangements were made with Cremation Society of South Carolina in Greenville.
