WALLY JORDAN, RACHEL DAVENPORT, TAMMY LINDLEY CRAWFORD, PHILLIP CUMMINGS, EILEEN DAVIS, DON FOWLER

WALLY JORDAN

(March 05, 1952 – August 09, 2019)

ANDERSON– Walter “Wally” Guy Jordan, III, 67, husband of the late Betty Deloris Huff Jordan, passed away Friday, August 9, 2019.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Walter Guy Jordan, Jr. and Sue Ann McKee Jordan. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran and member of Pelzer Church of God.

He is survived by sister, Karen Jordan Scott (Roger) of Pelzer; brother, John Phillip Jordan of Pelzer; special friends, Susan Busby Ide and James Ide; and his precious dog, Jasper.

He was predeceased by brother, James Timothy Jordan.

Visitation was from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Sunday, August 11, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service followed at 3:00 pm in the mortuary chapel.

Burial will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 15 at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes.

RACHEL DAVENPORT

ANDERSON, SC – Mrs. Rachel Saxon Chapman Davenport, 97, of Anderson, passed away into the Lord’s care on Friday, August 9, 2019. Born in Anderson County on May 25, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James H. Saxon and Nellie Hill Saxon. She was a resident of Williamston for most of her life.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Joan Chapman of Anderson and a son, Ronald Dale Davenport of El Campo, Texas, and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Chapman of Anderson. She is survived by one sister, Etrulia Saxon Burgess of Belton. She has seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clyde Chapman and Edwin Davenport; a son, Jerry Clyde Chapman, Sr.; and three brothers, Ralph, Aubrey, and Jimmy Saxon.

Mrs. Davenport was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Williamston before moving to Anderson and becoming a member of Concord Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Faith Sunday school class.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 12, at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Reverend Bill Parnell. Burial followed the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family received friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Upstate for their love, kindness, grace, and professionalism.

TAMMY LINDLEY CRAWFORD

Tammy Lindley Crawford, 46, of Honea Path, wife of Danny Stephen Crawford, of Hwy 76 West, died August 8, 2019 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of James Richard “Dickie”Lindley and Katie Jeanett Alexander Lindley. She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church. She was employed by the US Postal Service in the Honea Path office.

Surviving in addition to her husband of the home and her parents of Honea Path are: two sons, Matthew Stephen Crawford and Jake Austin Crawford, both of Honea Path; three brothers, Paul Lindley of Pelzer, Dennis Lindley and Jackson Lindley, both of Honea Path; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 11 at Columbia Baptist Church. Burial followed in Princeton Baptist Church Cemetery.

PHILLIP CUMMINGS

Charles Phillip Cummings, 65, of Pelzer, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of Haynie Charles Cummings of Williamston and the late Sarah Elizabeth Roberts Cummings. He was the former owner and operator of Economizer Body Shop in West Pelzer.

Additional survivors include his daughters, Jennie Lyn Weston of Anderson and Sarah Elizabeth Beasley of Starr; brothers, Ronnie Cummings of Longs, and Mike Cummings of Belton; sister, Nancie Cummings of Miami, FL; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

EILEEN DAVIS

Eileen Iona Young Davis, 75, of Piedmont, passed away, Friday, August 9, 2019.

Born in Concord, NC, she was a daughter of the late Edward Joe and Elizabeth “Minnie” Burton Young.  She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by son, Eddie Davis of Greenville and daughter, Cindy Davis Smith of Pelzer; sister, Shirleen McEvers; brothers, Eddie Joe Young and William Young all of Piedmont; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Monday, August 12, at Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery, with visitation following.

DON FOWLER

John Donnelley “Don” Fowler, 75, of Pelzer, husband of Leah Taylor Fowler, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at his home.

He was born in Pelzer and raised by his grandmother, Ethel Mandy Holcombe. He retired from the Gantt Fire District and Sewer Department.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, John Daniel Fowler of Williamston, Dana Crawford of Pelzer, Christopher Fowler of Pelzer, Adam Fowler (Shelby) of Williamston, Brandon Rogers of Pelzer; and 6 granddaughters.

Funeral service was held Sunday, August 11 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
