Frank R. Wyatt 

Williamston, SC – Frank R. Wyatt, 89, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

A longtime resident of the Piercetown Community, Frank was born in Anderson County, SC, to the late Lillie Mae and Robert Monroe Wyatt on February 6, 1934.

He is survived by his daughter Judy Carpenter and her husband Doyle of Williamston. Other surviving family members include two sisters, Edna Adams of Fountain Inn, SC, and Dorothy Caroline Rampey of Anderson, SC, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Frank was married to Joyce Martin Wyatt until her death in 1988. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers, William A. Wyatt, Robert Pickens Wyatt, and Charles E. Wyatt; his sisters, Mary E. Mitchell and Vivian Sylvene Hyler; and his friend, Ella Jo Wyatt.

He graduated from White Plains High School and was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church in Williamston, SC. He retired from Michelin Tire’s Sandy Springs Plant. Frank served in the US Army from 1952 until 1958 and was stationed in Germany. After returning home, he served in the SC National Guard. He was a farm boy who loved being outdoors. He enjoyed cattle farming as a young boy and then in his spare time after retirement.

The family of Frank Wyatt wish to thank the staff of Summit Place Assisted Living and Rainey Hospice House who cared for him with much compassion in his final days.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Williamston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC, 29621.

Stephen L. Bannister

Boiling Springs 

Stephen L. Bannister, 75, of Boiling Springs, SC, entered the arms of his Savior in Heaven on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 29, 1948 in Pelzer, SC, he was the son of the late Milford Leonard and Madeline Betty McCombs Bannister.

 He was a  longtime member of Gateway Baptist Church,  Boiling Springs, SC.

Mr. Bannister earned his Bachelor of Science at The University of South Carolina and retired as a produce manager with Ingles.  

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Genevie Marie Walker Bannister of the home; son, Stephen B. Bannister (Mary Beth) of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Brenna Bannister, Stevie Bannister, Charlotte Bannister, Jude Bannister, Erin Bannister, Caleb Briles, Emma Briles and Hunter Briles; sisters, Kathy Smith (Jimmy) of Williamston, SC and Linda Burton (Bobby) of Pelzer, SC. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Tammie Thompson and Tony Bannister.

 Graveside service was 11:00 AM Monday, October 9, 2023 in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4161 Highway 9 N., Boiling Springs, SC 29316, conducted by The Rev. Tim Ramsey.

Gene Pressley

Willis Eugene “Gene” Pressley of Easley, 76, husband of the late Betty Browning Pressley, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Willis and Hazel McDonald Pressley. A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from Hanes Falcon Finishing Plant and was a member of Wren Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children, Stacy Rholetter of Piedmont, Heather Vandenmeiracker of Greer, and Michael Pressley of Anderson; sister, Janie Lee Keller of Easley; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bob Wright

Robert George “Bob” Wright of Greenville, 86, husband of Shirley Faye Lawson Wright, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023.

   Born in Mount Airy, NC, he was a son of the late Charlie Hasting and Sarah Nancy Simpson Wright. A retired U.S. Air Force veteran, he also retired as owner and operator of his own trucking company and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley.

   In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Debbie Roszel of Flowery Branch, GA, Janet Rhodes of Pelzer, and Jill Thompson of Easley; sister, Lucille Seckinger of Williston, FL; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 14, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church, with the funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Jo Ann Prather

Elizabeth Jo Ann Hipps Prather of Belton, 87, wife of the late Ira Jack Prather, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023.

   Born in Belton, she was a daughter of the late James Allen and Evelyn Louise Owens Hipps. She retired from Union Carbide/Kemet. She was a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church and was the first female school bus driver in the state of South Carolina.

Survivors include son, James Howatt “Howie” McGonnigal, Jr. of Simpsonville; daughter, Patricia “Patti” McGonnigal Rish of Evans, GA; sisters, Jeanette Reynolds of Belton and Carolyn Watson of Greer; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

   Visitation will be held Friday, October 20, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Road, Greenville, SC 29607.
